As the development of China's economic and the increasing demand for energy, It's looming ahead to adopt HV and UHV power transmission and distribution overhead power lines over long distances.power lines and tower accessories will cause injury such as broken stocks, wear and corrosion damage etc .when they are long-term exposured in the field, suffering from continuous mechanical tension, electrical flashover, ageing of materials,It will eventually bring about major accident ,widespread power outages and huge economic losses,if not restore in time.Transmission line insulator is an important component of the transmission Lines, which is more likely to be damaged .It is regarded as a new approach to use CCD cameras to obtain a piece of porcelain insulators to be detected or more images, through image analysis and processing to detect the state of insulators , with the development of the the helicopter patrol line of technology,This paper puts forward a kind of new detection method based on the aerial images of insulator state.The method Comprehensively utilizes image processing and identifying technology, testing the insulator cladding ice condition, and calculated the cladding ice thickness.The main contents include the following aspects: image preprocessing, edge detection, feature extraction and recognition, state detection...
