Currently, as a kind of clean renewable energy, wind energy has the most exploitation value. However, with the increase of wind power integration capacity, wind power brings many problems to the power system stability. Therefore, the deep researches about the characteristics of wind farm as well as its impact on the stability of power system have important theoretical and practical significance.Firstly, based on slip-adjustable wound rotor induction generator (WRIG) system, the detailed mathematical models are established and the operating mechanism of slip-adjustable WRIG is investigated profoundly in this thesis. Secondly, based on PSS/E power system simulation software, the transient operating characteristics of slip-adjustable WRIG are researched under various wind speed, system fault and different fault positions, the transient characteristics between adding a slip-adjustable WRIG wind farm and adding a traditional power plant to a primary grid are compared and control effect of the WRIG wind farm participating in system control during system fault is also surveyed. Finally, the reactive power compensation principle of slip-adjustable WRIG wind farm is studied, from the perspective of stability of wind farm, compensation effects of different reactive power compensation structures and capacity on slip-adjustable WRIG wind farm are investigated and reactive power compensation strategy of slip-adjustable WRIG wind farm is proposed.
