Eccentrically braced steel frame has been taken into application in the actual projects during these years, and a lot of engineers pay close attention to it. Many experts have studied to do research on this subject deeply. Eccentrically braced steel frame has lots of advantages, relative to concentrically braced frames, such as high lateral stiffness, good energy performance, extensively good ductility and so on. It has been widely used in some high intensity earthquake districts to resist lateral forces and received as a extremely effective structure style. Currently, the domestic or oversea studies only take the inside surface lateral stiffness as research subject, applying load on one way or cyclic loading. This is very different from the actual stress condition of the eccentric support in the actual project. In this paper, nonlinear (material and geometry) finite element method was applied to systematically analyze the overall mechanical behavior of the steel frame structure in three-dimention.Through the calculation and analysis, the result show that the structure's strength, lateral stiffness, ductility, energy dissipation and the impact on out-plane lateral stifness is strongly related to the braced form.Meanwhile, some other meaningful results are obtained. It will be very helpful for the design of the actual structure.
