With the development of China's power industry, the main material of the tower is required to use high strength steel. Using high strength steel is better than using composite section method as heavy load, which can avoid too much sections and reduce installation work. However, as a long time, our strength steel angle bar use a lower level steel. It is generally considered the local stability angle compression members do not need special consideration. According to the "Code for Design of Steel Structure" (GB50017-2003), single-Angle Struts Connected by Single Limb should be simplified calculation as axial compression angle of its strength and stability, the strength of the design value must be discounted, while if the limb width-thinkness radio need to be taken into account does not provide. With the steel tower of strength increases, the Angles in the design and calculation is inevitable to encounter problems with width-thinkness ratio, so that not only limiting width thickness of angle struts ratio need to be explored, also need to analyze the capacity when beyond limit and the formula for beyond-limit strength calculation should be put forward.This paper focus on the single-limb connection angle bar of the large width-thickness ratio (that is generous limits exceeding), and through the experiment of 24 Q460 high-strength angle struts connected by single limb and finite element analysis, the research show that:the ultimate bearing capacity of the experiment value are higher than the Calculated of the "Design of Latticed Steel Transmission Structures"(ASCE10-1997), on the same section in different slenderness ratio of components, the larger slenderness ratio, the higher the ratio; while on the same slenderness ratio in different sections, the greater width-thinkness radio, the greater the ratio.Based on this problem, analyzing the current standard, this paper are proposed a set of formulas based on high-strength angle struts connected by single Limb, including the width-thinkness radio limit formula; the strength reduction formula when beyond limit; and the slenderness ratio conversion formula for high-strength angle struts connected by single Limb.This set of the formula correlate well with test result and the large number of finite element analysis, and provide theoretical support for better promotion and use of high strength steel.
