Seasonal snow storage is an energy conservation and environmental technology that storage natural snow are in winter, and utilize cold energy of the storaged snow released in summer. Because the global energy crisis is more and more serious, effective measures are necessary to reduce. However, seasonal snow storage technology is an effective measure to reduce building air-conditioning energy consumption. Research on seasonal snow storage has got more attention in energy-saving and environmental field these years.Four kinds of winter snow storage methods are analyzed in this paper, and the conclusion that open underground storaged-snow mode is most suitable for large-scale seasonal snow storage project is get. Heat transfer analysis on the surface and in the bottom of melting snow is carried out. The bottom of the snow melting plays a decisive role in the overall melting, so this paper studies heat transfer of in bottom of the melting snow. For analyzing the heat transfer of the melting snow, thermal conductivity of natural snow is tested in cold regions. Trend that snow thermal conductivity changes with its temperature is obtained, which provided reference for research work in the future. Considering melting phase transition of snow, model of heat transfer for storage snow in the bottom is established by using the sensible heat capacity method. Two-dimensional nonlinear heat conduction equation is solved numerically with the finite volume method. The numerical results have shown that variation of temperature with time for different points within storaged snow is affected by distance from the heating surface. And temperature-change of external heat source will also influence temperature distribution within storaged snow. Snowmelt cooling system for airport is designed in this paper, and is contrasted with air-conditioning cooling system of airport with conventional electric refrigeration technology in economy, energy conservation and environmental protection, seasonal snow storage technology has advantages.
