As continues progress of imaging technology and rapid development of electronic technology, research on the core vision of the automotive vehicle automatic collision avoidance system has gained more and more attention of the majority technical workers and engineering. As embedded devices have advantages in cost, practicality, reliability and so on, meanwhile its coupled with significant characteristics in digital signal processor and processing techniques, which make the development of automotive vision technology based on DSP become a research hotspot in recent years.This paper firstly analyzes why traffic accidents occur frequently in the world today, and detect the measures adapt to the reasons, for which may led to the necessity of research on the car visual system. The following describes the system's overall scheme with TI's DSP as its core processor.The hardware platform of automotive vision system was built for the purpose of practical. We selected TMS320DM6437 Davinci series digital multimedia processor as the system's core processor, and made full use of its characteristic in processing speed, internal structure and the peripheral interface. Then extended peripherals which visual system required, to achieve the hardware design of minimum system, and rationally use the software resources to drive the video subsystem VPSS. Then, for DSP has the real-time operating system DSP/BIOS, we use multi-threading technology to package the software of function modules of visual system, in order to make the system's software hierarchy more clear, and the system's work distribution more reasonable. In addition, the visual system not only achieves the functions of video image processing but also added modules to communicate with other micro-controller through CAN bus. Accordingly, the system completes communication with control module while receive the messages from Video Processing and Analysis, finally achieves the function of Automatic collision avoidance.
