Preliminary Study Of Suzhou Classic Garden Art: Five-peak Garden

Experienced ups and downs in almost 500 years, the Five-peak Garden is one of the few Ming Dynasty Gardens in Suzhou area now. It is the excellent works of painting and calligraphy combined with garden design by the Wens' Clan. As a classical culture carrier, and having its base on the classical garden art of Suzhou, the Five-peak Garden shows luscious humanistic environment.The first part of this paper summarized the history of Soochow classical gardens, its status in Chinese and global gardening, and its situation of protection and value. In the second part, the geographical position the origin of its name and past owners was introduced.The third part is the research of factor and art in gardening of Five-peak garden. The author firstly analyzed the outside spatial framework and the inside decorative art. Secondly analyed the garden design of Five-peak garden from piling of rockeries, layout of waters, building and plants, which is the Four Major Factors in garden design. Finally, we introduced the Five-peak garden's artistic conception and value.The last part of this article paid close attention to the protection problem of Five-peak Garden. Aiming at the circumjacent environment and the extant problems of Five-peak garden, we raise the emergency of protection and restoration. After this, some homologous solution and repairing advices was raised finally.
