Submerged pump system is a new pump type. Compared to other pump types, it has many advantages of more simple structure, more convenient maintenance and less civil investment. This pump type is applied widely in water resources allocation, urban flood control, water environment improvement and agriculture drainage and irrigation, etc, which means it has the higher application foreground. The extensive use of lager submerged pump system puts forward a higher requirement for its hydraulic performance. Currently, the hydraulic performance of the submerged pump system at home and abroad is still lack in-depth understood, and its optimum hydraulic design research is still in primary stage.In order to perfect the optimum hydraulic design theory of the submerged pump system, further improve the hydraulic performance of horizontal and vertical submerged pump systems, and make this pump type with many advantages has better and more application, the optimum hydraulic design of horizontal and vertical submerged pump system is comparatively deep studied in this paper by the help of the conduit isolated study mainly while the pump system overall study secondly, and numerical computation mainly while model test secondly. The idiographic contents includes the following aspects:(1) According to the objective of the optimum hydraulic design for the inlet and outlet conduits, the numerical computation of 3D turbulent flow for the inlet and outlet conduits of the horizontal submerged pump system is completed by the help of conduit isolated study, the numerical computation of 3D turbulent flow for the interior flow of the horizontal submerged pumping is also completed;(2) Based on the optimum hydraulic design of the inlet and outlet conduits of the horizontal submerged pump system, the model test for inlet and outlet conduits are completed, and the test results are compared with the numerical simulation results;(3) Combined with the actual engineering requirement, the model test for horizontal submerged pump system of Guanbei pumping station in Jiangsu province is completed. The pump system hydraulic performance is tested to compare with the inlet and outlet conduits isolated study results; (4) The optimum hydraulic design for the inlet and outlet conduits of vertical shaft submerged pump system of Guanghe pumping station in Guangdong is completed. According to the low efficiency of the shaft type, a new vertical siphon submerged pump system is proposed. the numerical computation of 3D turbulent flow and the study of optimum hydraulic design are also completed;(5) The model test for the vertical siphon submerged pump system outlet conduit of Guanghe Pumping Station in Guangdong is completed.the interior flow patterns of the conduts is odserved and the hydraulic losses is measured, and the model test result is compared with the numerical simulation result;(6) Based on the hydraulic performance research of the horizontal and vertical submerged pumping system, the project investment, installation and maintenance and operation management of these two types are preliminarily analyzed and compared.The conclusions obtained from the hydraulic research of the horizontal and vertical submerged pumping system are as follows:(1) The optimized horizontal submerged pump system has straight condut and excellent hydraulic performance, and the research results can be applied to the engineering;(2) the new vertical siphon submerged pump system is first proposed. The hydraulic performance of which is obviously superior to that of traditional vertical pitshaft submerged pump system, and this pump system can be adopted in actual engineering;(3) the result of the optimum hydraulic design for horizontal submerged pump system is consistent with the model test result,which means the optimum hydraulic design for horizontal submerged pump system is right.
