Urban Wetland Parks And Water Landscape Design

Studying water environment is vital to the urban development and construction of an ecological city in Tianjin, providing a unique opportunity for the city's future. Studies on wetland play an important role in social economy, culture, environment, science, aethetics, education, etc. Water environment and water landscape construction are considered one of the most significant parts in wetland ecological construction. Urban wetland parks, a new form of parks, are thus recognized as an indispensable part of urban landscape system. How to design urban wetland parks reasonably, in order to effectively protect and explore urban wetland and to improve urban landscape system and urban water environment, has become an important issue in the sustainable development of cities at present.Currently, the designing of and research on urban wetland parks in China is a newly emerged field for study. Starting from discussion on water landscape, this paper aims to suggest concepts and theoretical frameworks of water body landscape, and to further analyze the conditions of water environment and water ecological protection scheme in Tianjin. This paper also attempts to summarize technical and designing strategies of water landscape in urban wetland parks. With a case study on Meijiang Landscape Area, Tianjin, the author studies the planning of urban wetland parks and water landscapes, and raises effective forms to protect and explore urban wetlands. This paper, searching approaches and methods of water landscape designing in urban manmade wetland parks, proposes strategies and plans of sustainable development.
