| Atomic Force Microscope(AFM) is developed on the basis of Scan Tunneling Microscope(STM). It does this by testing the the very weak interaction force between the sample surface and a micro-force sensor to study the surface structure and properties of substances. Comparing to STM which can only measure the conductor and semiconductor, AFM has no special requirements on the sample, it can measure solid surface, adsorption system, etc. And it has the atomic-level resolution, which can real-time observe and operate the atom in situ space. Thus, AFM has been widely used in materials science, biology, nano-electromechanical and nano/micro process areas. With the rapid development of nanotechnology, atomic force microscope itself has also got a great development.The studying object of this this paper is AFM.IPC-208B atomic force microscope which is developed by Heng-Rui Nano-technical worksation of Chongqing University. Based on the AFM, I mainly do research in the following areas:1. Systematic elaborated the working principle of STM and AFM, its development status at home and broad, as well as the application in materials science, biology, nano-processing and other areas.2. Detailedly introduced the system structure of AFM.IPC-208B atomic force microscope, especially the instruction of lens body. This paper also detailedly introduced the working process of the AFM.3. The improvements in the performance of AFM.IPC-208B atomic force microscope. For example, improvements in damping system: we improved the three-coordinate driving mechanism of the micro-cantilever, changed the fixed location of micro-cantilever to reduce the vibration carried out by the motor. Visualization improvements of AFM: we added a CCD system to lens body to real-time monitor the distance between the probe and the sample, as well as the movement of probe, we also set up a 3D opitical system associated with AFM system, which has greatly reduced the difficulty of the regulation of AFM, improved the efficiency of adjustment and accuracy of measurement. Improvement of motor feeding system: replaced the stepping motor of the four direction into servo motor, and re-designed the corresponding driver circuit, which has further improved the stability of the feed and the positioning accuracy of the motor. 4. Introduced the latest applications and experiments by AFM.IPC-208B atomic force microscope in materials science, biological. This paper also gived surface images of nano-electric body, electrical aging insulating paper, hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrins, porphyrin samples, as well as detailed analysis and application introduction. |
