Traffic condition detection for the urban road based on floating vehicle technology is an important way to get traffic condition of urban road. Map matching is one of the key technologies that decide the quality of the Real-time traffic condition detection system based on floating vehicle technology. At present, for large-scale and low precision GPS data, how to deal with the contradictory between accuracy and rapidity of traffic condition detection system well through effective map matching algorithm is still a key problem of the improvement of traffic condition detection system based on floating vehicle technology.This paper in view of the characteristic of bus floating vehicle data and electronic map of the urban road, presents GPS exceptional data treatment, node matching and map adjusting algorithm, then, considering the characteristic Real-time traffic condition detection system based on floating vehicle technology, presents a new map matching algorithm based on road buffer analysis.In GPS exceptional data treatment aspect, in order to improve the GPS data quality, the GPS Exceptional data is repaired and deleted according to its characteristic.In map pretreatment aspect, considering the core issues of the map pretreatment, a new node matching algorithm and a new map adjusting algorithm based on floating vehicle data are presented.In map matching aspect, considering the large-scale GPS data and real-time request, aiming to improve the efficiency of map matching algorithm, map matching algorithm build a relationship between GPS data and road information based on road buffering analysis. Then, according to the characteristic of bus line, presents some algorithm to meet the special demand of the crossing and multi-level crossing bridge area.Finally, with the use of Chongqing Municipality electronic map and vehicle real-time positioning data, the above several key technologies are implemented by VB & MapX. The experimental results show that, the node matching algorithm is more significantly than other algorithms; the map adjusting algorithm is more simple and effective than traditional adjusting algorithm; The efficiencies of the map matching algorithm based on the road buffer analysis can satisfy the demand of the real-time traffic condition detection for the urban road based on floating vehicle technology.
