In recent years, Zhejiang Highway construction has made great achievements, but under the comprehensive effect of modern traffic and climate, many pavement structure occurs early damage, seriously affecting the quality of road travel. Therefore, Zhejiang Province put forward the ideas that construction is development, maintenance management also is development. It means that the old asphalt pavement must take timely and effective preventive conservation measures. In order to adapt to new situations, highway bureau of Zhejiang province firstly introduce the fiber asphalt chip seal from France which is a new technology of preventive maintenance. Against Modern transportation in Zhejiang province and materials supply, carry out research design and key technologies for fiber asphalt chip seal suited to Zhejiang and even the whole country. It has important theoretical and practical significance to improve and expand our Asphalt Pavement Preventive Maintenance level.This paper summarizes and analyzes features and using conditions of a variety of preventive maintenance of existing technology, describe the advantages and characteristics of fiber asphalt chip seal. According to traffic and climate conditions in Zhejiang, determine the road performance requirements for preventive maintenance road; to explore the using conditions of fiber asphalt chip, establish a finite element model, analysis the adaptability of fiber asphalt chip seal for the old asphalt pavement strength and damaged condition, and then systematically analysis impact factor on fiber asphalt chip seal using performance. In order to reveal the cracking mechanism of fiber asphalt chip seal, using computer image processing technology, collect image and process with specimen, and application of finite element software to calculate fracture toughness of fiber asphalt chip seal. Based on fracture mechanics and finite element theory, calculation and analysis stress intensity factor of fiber asphalt chip seal under different conditions. Calculated the stress intensity factor, under the most unfavorable combination condition, and the excellent crack resistance effect of fiber asphalt chip is verified by comparing with the fracture toughness itself. Finally, draw the existing asphalt pavement decay model, through amending the material influence coefficient, predict fiber asphalt chip seal pavement life, highlights its advantages.
