The variable-beam joint in R.C. frame structure is widely present in large span, heavy industrial plants and high-rise building structures. As the sizes of left beam and right beam, or upper column and lower column change in large, the force characteristics of abnormal joint are significantly different from normal joint. The damage caused by earthquakes at home and abroad indicates that structures will suffer failure and even collapse under medium or strong earthquakes which causing huge economic losses and casualties. R.C. joints in structural seismic system play a role which can not be ignored. It is still in the research stage of the abnormal joint seismic performance all over the world, and continuously perfected. In this paper,6 of 12 abnormal joints of R.C. frame specimens are tested research by displacement control low-cycle loading test methods. By analyzing the six components of the hysteretic behavior, skeleton curve, stiffness and strength degradation, ductility and energy dissipation coefficient, to get a different affect parameters of axial compression ratio, stirrup ratio and beam-column cross-section changes on the seismic behavior of variable-beam joints. Based on the experimental data we can obtain the load-displacement skeleton curve and the stiffness under load at all levels, and fitted the beam restoring force model of variable-beam j oints. With the development of computer technology, combined with the finite element method of analysis has become another research tool. On considering of the concrete damage plasticity, this paper verificated the skeleton curve through the application of the ABAQUS finite element analysis software. And apply a reasonable simulation method to analyse a number of impact factors of the variable-beam joints of R.C. frame structure and get the nonlinear behavior influence rule of change the size of both sides of beams.
