Lighting protection of overhead transmission line is always the topic of electricity science and technology workers have been taking efforts to explore, fruitful results have been achieved after continuous efforts for decades. However, with the construction and development of power grid, power failures caused by lightning strike still occupy a large proportion, which caused line insulation damaged, and power cut must be done to repair them, which not only resulted in direct economic losses to the power sector, but also have an adverse effect on industrial and agricultural production to the residents and. For decades, conventional lightning protection method has been widely used for overhead transmission line lightning protection work without ideal effect, so a more sustained research for lightning protection of overhead transmission lines is necessary to take.This paper plans to analyze the effect of Line type MOA in operation through the principle analysis and description of which and through the Guangzhou Power Grid 110kV and above transmission lines lightning flashover accident statistics these years, and thus putting forward measures and proposals of preventing and reducing transmission line lightning flashover from a technical and management aspects as a technical guidance of preventive countermeasure of lighting strike flashover to improve the reliability of power grid operation level of Guangzhou.The theoretical analysis of the use of research projects and projects in line with the principles of practice, first make the theoretical analysis that Line type MOA for overhead transmission lines of the original Lightning effect, then run the line arrester practice of hanging on a statistical analysis of the effectiveness of its mine, and then gradually through the site feedback to solve the performance and operational management problems.
