The permanent magnet brushless DC motor (PMBLDCM) is a new style motor in which electronic commutator is used instead of mechanical one. PMBLDCM has a myriad of advantages, such as high torque, high efficiency, small volume and low weight. With the development of power electronics and new permanent-magnet materials, PMBLDCM has extensive application foreground in convenient electrical tool areas. Therefore, study on the design of control system for PMBLDCM has important theoretical and practical significance.This thesis will firstly introduce the development of PMBLDCM briefly, compare the control system of PMBLDCM with other types of motors, summarize the achievement on PMBLDCM control system up to date. Then, the operation principle and accurate mathematic model is deduced in detail based on the structure of PMBLDCM. Moreover, motor characteristics are analyzed through the operation principle and accurate mathematic model.Also, conventional control strategies for PMBLDCM are introduced and the weak points of PI control strategy are analyzed. According to the operation of electric pull rivet guns, a weight self-tuning fuzzy PI controller is designed combining the advantages of both fuzzy controller and PI controller. Simulation results of this control system indicate that the control system acquires fast dynamic response and excellent robustness, which meet the requirement very well in practical application.Then, in the thesis the hardware system is designed based on the Digital Signal Processor dsPIC30F3010, including main control chip dsPIC30F3010 and its peripheral circuit, main circuit, power module drive circuit, current detection and protection circuit, position signal detection circuit, power module circuit. EMC design is conducted on the main circuit and control circuit of the system. Control software is developed for the system, which includes system main program, system CN interrupt capture program, system AD interrupt capture program.Finally, experiments are conducted on the control system. Experimental results verify the feasibility of the proposed full digital weight self-tuning fuzzy PI controller with good performance and stability.
