This article reviews the current application and theoretical research of reinforced soil structure, and analyzes the problems existed, moreover, presents a new method which based on the theory of the critical slip field, to analyze the stability of reinforced soil slope. On the basis of this method, the article discusses the major factors influenced by the reinforced soil slope stability and analyzed the seismic effects on the reinforced soil slope stability. The conclusions were as follows.Based on the theory of the critical slip field, in the analysis of reinforced soil slope, the effect of reinforcing materials is considered as an equivalent additional stress acting upon the slip surface. The formulas for computing the factor of safety of reinforced soil slope are presented. An extension of the numerical simulation for critical slip field (CSF) is made. Then, a numerical scheme is proposed for calculating critical slip field of reinforced slope. The position of critical slip surface of arbitrary shape and the minimum factor of safety be given through the program written by MATLAB.Based on theory of the reinforced soil slope critical slip field, calculate the safety factor of reinforced soil slope influenced by different severe soil, cohesion, internal friction angle, reinforcement material strength, reinforcement spacing, reinforcement length, reinforcement type and etc. The result indicates that the internal friction angle greatly affects the safety factor, the larger internal friction angle may increase the safety factor; the reinforcement contributes much less when it reaches some length and strength. So the appropriate internal friction angle should be paid much attention to when designing the reinforced soil slope, besides, the appropriate reinforcement strength, length and type are also important.Analyze the reinforced soil slope dynamic stability under earthquake through reinforced soil slope critical slip field method. The result indicates that the slope safety factor decreases when the seismic influence coefficient; the critical slip plane damage area is getting smaller from deeper to shallow and inside out. It shows that the reinforcement type of intensive upper and loose lower has better seismic capacity.
