At the present, the residential construction is in the stage of persistent unprecedented development, and is becoming the new economic growth point. With the improvement of the speed of urbanization, more and more high-rise residential was built. Based on the traditional shear wall, a new shear wall structure system- the superimposed slab shear wall was advanced in this paper. The shear walls not only have the good capability of resisting earthquake; but also overcome the shortcomings of traditional shear wall, such as the large self-weight, stiffness and earthquake action.Four superimposed slab shear walls with edge restricted measures of two different forms and two general shear walls were designed. Comparative experimental studies on superimposed slab shear walls and two general shear walls under low cyclic loading were conducted. Such as the structural failure feature, deformation capacity, bearing capacity, ductility, hysteresis property were analyzed systematically. Through finite-element method, the superimposed slab shear walls and two general shear walls were analyzed. The failure mode and the seismic behavior of the superimposed slab shear walls under cyclic loads, especially under different axial loads, are closely examined.
