This article describes the theory of low-strain detection on piles, establishes a pile-soil model by one-dimensional wave theory, and studies the velocity response on the pile top in different parameters of pile-soil system by qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis. Firstly, the wave equation is established, combined with the boundary conditions and initial conditions. Then, Matlab is used to obtain results by finite differential method, and curves of velocity response on the pile top is obtained, and pile-soil parameters'effects on velocity response curves are discussed. These parameters include the length, elastic wave speed, elastic modulus of the pile, Poisson's ratio, shear wave speed of soil around the pile-soil as well as that at the bottom of a pile. Finally, this article analyses practical engineering data of piles, and especially focus on quantitative analysis of defects , in order to know much more accurately about the location and the extent of defects of a defective pile, because it has more practical significance.
