To ensure safely and stability economic dispatch of power grids has been become the primary work in all levels of dispatching department, and it has been researched for a long time. However, with the growing scale of power grids and the reforming of electricity system in recent years, the power system has been getting more complex than before. The ED problem also showed tendency of non-linear, high dimension, discretization and multi-objective, so its principles and objectives are facing new challenges now. How to use advanced computer information technology to offer auxiliary decision support system for power industry that has been increasing important. So the research work in this thesis is including three parts as follows:1. The current theory and application of research results was reviewed. In this part, some economic dispatch models and algorithms, which commonly used in recent years, were described. It includes the typical applications of traditional optimization theory and modern multi-objective optimization theory. Then its advantages and disadvantages were be discussed in depth. Finally, summed up direction of economic dispatch in the future.2. A model based on multi-objective optimization was established for distributed economic dispatch of power grids, In this part, On the point of the subarea division and coordinated calculation view, it takes into account the maximum benefits, the minimums of generation costs and pollution emissions. The simulation result shows that it can achieve good application effect when the method is used for distributed economic dispatch optimization.3. Based on the comprehensive data platform, we designed and implemented an auxiliary decision support system. In this part, it relied existing resources of the OMS project which was running in a power grid company, and then combined with the practical demands of economic dispatch, a distributed systems based on coordinator and models was architectured and developed at last.
