Asphalt concrete pavement has become the main form of the road in the world because of its excellent service level. As the pavement directly contacts with the traffic loads and the natural conditions, demand it to have sufficient strength, rigidity, stability, durability, surface smoothness and surface antiskid performance. Because the asphalt mixture is provided with viscoelasticity and its sensitivity for temperature is very strong, ruts become the one of the most hazardous destruction forms of the high-speed asphalt pavement under the role of pool traffic, gaining world road workers'universal concern. This paper analyses the formation mechanism of rutting, classification and influencing factors on the basis of a lot of literature references. In accordance to the norm "JTGD50-2004 Asphalt Pavement Design Standards", select the semi-rigid pavement structure commonly used for the expressway of Liaoning Province as the basic structure combination, establish an asphalt concrete pavement layered structure model using the international universal large finite element software ANSYS, in accordance to the linear elastic and non-linear viscoelastic constitutive relations of the asphalt mixture, analyze the stresses and strains of different depths of the structure layers under the different circumstances, such as the material properties, material thicknesses, loads, and so on, gaining the mechanical properties of the pavement at 15℃and45℃and its impacts to the instability type rut and the compressed type rut, so as to achieve the objective of reducing the pavement ruts. The analytic results of the numerical simulation of this paper provide theoretical references for building the new asphalt pavement. Because the pavement calculated by the traditional elastic multi-layers system often doesn't achieve the anticipative use life through it neglects its viscoelasticity, making the pavement appear serious early damage phenomenon—rutt. The viscoelastic calculation structure of the paper establishes a basis for the viscoelastic design of the asphalt pavement.
