In a rotating system, unbalance default often happens which is resulted in the inertial force or inertia moment of unbalance weight. In order to eliminate rotor unbalance fault, in decades engineers have done a lot efficient work. Many theories and efficient solutions were proposed. In order to develop a suit test system for the rigid rotor balancing, this paper adopted a rapid and efficient test program and more accurate signal processing method. To achieve these goals, this paper made the following research.Balancing technologies at home and abroad have been studied and classified. The development trend of balancing technology was recognized. Extraction precisely of vibration amplitudes and phases at a frequency (fundamental frequency) that is synchronous with machine speed was determined as the main research directions. This paper studied the theories and methods of rigid rotor balancing and analyzed the mechanism and diagnosis of the rotor unbalance fault. The influence coefficient method of balancing was introduced. Every case of keeping trial weight in one-plane and two-plane was analyzed. This paper has researched the main targets of the test system which were the tachometer signal that is synchronous with machine speed and the vibration signals of the rotor or bearing. The paper found the acquirement method of the tachometer signal and analyzed the component of the vibration signals. The algorithms used to correct the frequency that based on the ratio of discrete spectrum around the main-lobe were introduced. These are Quinn method, Jacobsen method and the complex ratio method. The balancing test system development which including system requirements analysis, development of rotor balancing test, the hardware equipment selection and system software development were researched.First, a large number of simulation experiments were used to analyze the influence that signal to noise ratio and samples take to the correction accuracy of fundamental frequency spectrum. Then the complex ratio method was chose to correct the fundamental frequency. Secondly, dynamic signal analyzers relevant standards were use to evaluate the accuracy of data acquisition. Finally, in the balancing test rig and the project site, the field balancing test system was use to balancing the rotor and was fully tested. Through the simulation and the experiments the following conclusions could be made. The correction method of fundamental frequency spectrum with high accuracy can meet the requirements of balancing test system. In the frequency range of the balancing test system. In the process of field balancing rigid rotor, the rotor could be quickly and effectively balanced.
