With the rapid development of science and technology as well as the national economy, power quality pollution brings an increasing damage in various industries. Therefore, it has aroused more and more concerns by both electricity sectors and their customers. Power quality monitoring plays a very important role in power quality supervision. The research directions in modern power quality on-line monitoring system includes the accuracy, real-time and visualization of monitoring data. According to the requirement of visualization of smart grid, this paper designs and implements a power quality on-line monitoring system based on WebGIS.This paper fistly describes the research methods of power quality problems, and proposes to make an accurate classification based on the wavelet transformation and vector machine to solute the problem of short duration power quality disturbance such as voltage swell, sag, momentary interrupt and so on. In addition, with the principal component analysis method, we can make a K-L transformation, extract the characteristics of the sample data to simplify the operation of classification. It then focuses on a specific analysis of WebGIS visual information technology.Based on the dual structure hardware circuit system of DSP and MCU, this paper makes a full use of the powerful data processing capability of digital signal processor TMS320VC5402PGE100 and the flexible control function of micro controller unit N80C196KC to realize division and cooperation. This paper sets up a monitoring platform based on WebGIS geographic information visualization, which could monitor and evaluate the real-time data of various power quality indices at monitoring points such as the substations. The platform uses a mixed-mode structure of client/server (C/S) and browser/server (B/S) to form a distributed power quality monitoring network. This system can hierarchically monitor the power quality data of main sites of the electic power network according to different regions, and complete the functions of real-time inquiry, historical inquiry, list generation and printing. The data displayed in cures or graphics and its corresponding visual geographic information provide a new management platform for power system supervision department which can greatly enhance the level of modernized operation and scientific management.With successfully running of the system in power network, the actual results indicate that it can make a visualization management of the data and geographic monitoring with the applying of WebGIS and therefore lays the foundation of the visualization management in smart grid.
