AMB is a new type of bearing, which uses electromagnetic force to the rotor suspended in the air, and exercise with a motor to drive the rotor. Compared with ordinary bearings, magnetic bearings have no friction, no wear and tear strengths, and more and more applications in high speed machining and flywheel energy storage and vacuum areas.Magnetic bearing system is the mechanical, electrical, magnetic integrated complex systems, which composed of controller, rotor, magnet, displacement sensors, power amplifiers and other devices, and the control system design are the difficulty and emphasis. This article is focuses on the controller and power amplifier of the AMB, and the FPGA is applied to the design magnetic bearing control system.In reference to the basis of extensive literature, the article describes the principle of electromagnetic bearing structure, analyzes magnetic bearing system in the electrical and mechanical aspects, built the single degree of freedom mathematical model of magnetic bearings, and the simulation using matlab verified their properties.Based on the magnetic bearing system analysis and simulation, the article used a kind of magnetic bearing system control structure, and designed the hardware and the FPGA module according to the control structure of the system,hardware design includes FPGA selection and configuration, power supply circuit, clock and reset circuit, A/D sampling channel and the sensor installation design, FPGA module includes PID module, digital interface module, A/D control module, power amplifier control module and other modules designed,PID control module is the role of signal processing, digital interface module is responsible for communication with PC,A/D control module control A/D converter and cache A/D converted data,amplifier control module generate switch control signals that control magnetic bearing state, the article analyzes and simulates part of the module,and the simulation results meet the design requirements.At last, debugged parts of the magnetic bearing system and has done a suspension experiments for magnetic bearing system, experimental results show that system from float smooth and magnetic suspension system stability meet requirements.
