In China, development of agriculture had made great progress with well-developed society and high quality of people’s living style. Rice, the basic crops, served as the main source of food is a indispensible part for human’s life. As rice demand for different water level at different growth stages, based on paddy water level sensor infrared distance measurement technology and wireless data transmission enables real-time monitoring of water paddy. In the processing of system construction, numerous problems have been solved, such as affection of sunlight to infrared distance measurement accuracy. A real-time data acquisition and wireless transmission could provide convenient management to clients. Farmers’ working efficiency was improved by cost saving and time saving.Principle of infrared distance have been introduced in this paper. Characteristics of measurement are studied by measuring the reflective surface height of different materials.Combined with target of the graduation project, a great deal of experiment have been done in the laboratory to illustrate the characteristics and application range. The output voltage of the transducer is disposed by light compensation. The distance data are fitted into different orders by least squares curve fitting method. After comparison and optimization, a distance measurement model with light compensation was constructed which could overcome the transducer’s nonlinearity and improve the measurement accuracy.In the design, GP2Y0A02 infrared sensor act as a distance measurement sensor, STC89C52single-chip microcomputer as the processor, SIM900 A as the communication module. Firstly,functional design is accomplished by analyzing system requirements. And then, modular design is operated by monitoring light environment and water level of paddy field. Collected data are processed and transferred wireless by STC89C52 single-chip microcomputer which is the core component of the central processing module. Remote monitoring of paddy fields is realized by receiving, parsing, compiling and sending SMS command through SIM900 A, a communication module. I2 C bus receive light sensor data, Infrared sensor monitor the water level and transmit data wirelessly through communication module to realize the real-time collection. This design has successfully passed the system test. Due to the simple structure, small volume, high measuring accuracy and stability, it’s convenient for people to employ.
