Studies on Biology of Flower Formation of Almond Lu Ting (Pomology) Surpervised by Li Jiang-~ Tan Dunyan Abstract Almond tree (Amygdalus communis L.) is a member of Rosaceae family. Flower Formation biology of Almond was studied through the methods of hormone regulation . parafin section observation pollination experiment laboratory detection and so on.. The results had showed that: l)The period of floral physiological differentiation differs among cultivars of almond and their twig length .Spraying the tree with GA3 and plucking leaves from the tree in suitable period. can prevent the flower formation. 2)The morphological differentiation produces organs in sequence :sepals-~ petals~ stamens and pistils.3)Floresccnce of æhuang Guo?æ¨i Pi ?. æ§ing Zui æ¤ æ—a Ke æ¤. æhuang Ruan?is almost at the same time ,and these cultivars can be arranged in groups. æhuang Guo? and æ¨i Pi?have a large quantity and high quality of pollen grains and they are excellent pollinizers 4) æ—a Ke?is a self-incompatible pollination~ æ¨i Pi?and æ’huang Guo?are partly self-compatible Pollinations æšing Zui?is a self- compatible pollination . 5) Pollen mother cells form before flower buds dormancy. During meiosis of pollen mother cell, cytokinesis is of simultaneous type The arrangement of microspore in tetrad is tetrahedral. The tapetum is of glandular. Bicelluar pollen grain formed before buds sprouts and mature pollen grains are two-celled. Female arehesporium forms when buds sprout . The development of the embryo sac conforms to the Polygonum type. At the first day in bloom , pollen grains shed, and female gemetophytte is not mature,which is at the four nucleus embryo sac stage . Almond tree is a protandrous plant. 6) During flowering, bees and hand-pollination can greatly increase the fruit set. 7) The formation of abortion flower is directly related to the tree nutrition. High level of nutrition can result in a good output. |
