113 Japonica rice varieties from cold zone were used in this experiment to Study the present situation and effect of granulated fertilizer of milled and physical quality properties.The results show:1. There are significantly difference of the tested varieties in BR (brown rice ratio),MR (milled rice ratio),HR (heading rice ratio),GL (grain length),GW (grain width),GS (grain shape),WC (white core ratio) and WB (white belly ratio),and the sequence from big to small of the varietal coefficient of variation different traits is: WB, WC, HR, GS, GL, GW MR, BR.BR and HR are significantly positively correlative to GW but inversely correlative to GS. GL and GS are significantly positively correlative to WC. GW has a positive correlation to WB. By principle component analysis and cluster analysis, 9 varieties, which have better synthetic quality properties, were sifted out from the tested rice population, and the tested population was divided into 4 classes, among which the first class' milled and physical properties are best.Parents of crosses should be selected between different classes.2. To the milled and physical properties of the tested japonica rice population, the milled properties are good, while the physical properties bad. The milled properties of the early type are better than that of the middle type which is better than the late one. The physical properties of the late type is better than that of the middle's which is better than the early type's. To the length the grain belongs to short kind, and to the shape belongs to the coarse kind. MR and HR of all varieties could reach the primary good quality rice stander, and GS is the second, while chalkiness ratio is the least that reach the primary good quality rice stander.Among the tested varieties the number of varieties which has single good property is more,while those all property are good is few If the disadvantage of every variety is improved or some good properties that are presenting in some varieties are synthesized, good quality varieties could be bred.3.The effect of granulate fertilizer on BR. MR. HR. WC and WB is big, and the parameter of the middle and late type are bigger than that of the early The effect of N fertilizerin heading stage on GL. GW and GS is small, and the fertilizer affect only the early andmiddle toe. Granulate fertilizer decrease BR. GW and WB, bUt it rase MR. HR. GL. GSand WC. After N fertilizer was aPplied, MR and HR is somehow increased exPect severalvarieties. WC and WB can rise or decrease, and the tendency vary wth valleties.
