Three ages of six varieties pepper(capsicum) were studied about resistance to phytophthora blight , of which the six-leaf stage was used to study the resistance mechanism inoculation was carried out using Zoospores suspension .The aim of this research was to find the mechanism of age-related resistance to the Phytophthora capsici and to supply the Physiology foundation for pepper breeding .It was found that the first-branched flowering stage was more resistant than the six-leaf stage and eight-leaf stage .the resistance was positively correlated with dry matter content and soluble sugar content and the activity of polphenol Oxidase (PPO) , but negatively correlated with the activity of peroxidase (POD) and no significant correlated with the content of Chlorophyll and the activity of phenylanine ammonia lyase (PAL) Therefore all these correlated indexes could be used as physiological indexes in pepper breeding of resistance to phytophthora capsici.
