In recent years, focal point of the study of high-yield population in rice was transferred from population quantity to population quality. Since 1990's,how to increase earbering tiller percentage has become the common concern of breeders and cultivator from home and abroad. Both super high-yield breeding and cultivate are oriented to increase population. An excellent rice population should have high earbering tiller percentage in early and middle developmental stage. Earbering tiller percentage is the main index of rice population quality. Increasing earbering tiller percentage is of great importance for the enhancement of high-yield population quality.In the field, stem and tillers are excess in effective leafage tiller period. Due to its difficulty to be manipulated, the excess of max tillers and stems lead to low earbering tiller percentage. Different cultivate density and fertilizer treatment combined with techniques controlling tillers in middle stage, different earbering tiller percentage populations were created and the population construction of rice with high earbering tiller percentage was studies. Its relationship with source quality and effects on physiological activity of grain sink in initial grain-filling in the process of population construction were also studied. The main results were as follows: 1. Characteristics of population construction with high earbering tiller percentage(1) LAI of different developmental stage is significantly positive correlated with population earbering tiller percentage. It indicated that source quality of population with high earbering tiller percentage is higher than that of population with low earbering tiller percentage.(2)senescence rate of canopies leaves is significantly positive correlated with population earbering tiller percentage. After heading, senescence rate of canopies leaves in population with high earbering tiller percentage is lower than that of population with earbering tiller percentage.(3)Transplanted 30days later, population dry matter accumulation is significantly or high significantly positive correlated with population earbering tiller percentage with the same cultivate density.Net dry matter accumulation is significantly positive correlated with output.(4)Population earbering tiller percentage is significantly correlated with grain-weigh increasing rate. Grain-weight increasing rate of population with high earbering tiller percentage is higher than that of population with earbering tiller percentage.(5)Population light transmitting rate in initial grain-maturing stage is significantly positive correlated with earbering tiller percentage. Due to its less leafingangle and better light transmitting activity the light transmitting rate of population with high earbering tiller percentage is higher than that of population with low earbering tiller percentage.(6)Earbering tiller percentage in filling stage is significant positive correlated with activity of rice root system. It indicated that high earbering tiller percentage has excellent root system which supports photosynthetic activity in initial grain-filling stage and provides grain with nutrition.2. The relationship between source quality of population with high earbering tiller percentage in initial grain-filling stage and grain output.(l)With optimum LAI, increasing effective leaf area index can enhance total spike lets and further to enhance grain output in grain-filling stage. (2)High efficient LAI of population in grain-filling stage is significantly positive correlated with total spike lets. High effective leaf area index is cur rely correlated with population total spike lets. (3)Declining rate of leaf area in grain-maturing stage is significantly positive correlated with earbering tiller percentage. Photosynthetic potential grain ratio is positive correlated with population grain output. High photosynthetic potential grain ratio of population spike lets and abundant material for grain-filling are useful for the enhancement of seed-setting rate and 1 OOOg...
