In this paper, three local sheep fitted with permanent rumen cannula were used to investigate the effect of eliminating the rumen anaerobic fungi by fed chemical treated grass on fermentation in vitro and on dry matter loss in nylon bags of three roughage. The result of study showed that: 1 The number of rumen anaerobic fungi greatly decreased from 1.1×106 TFU/ml to 1.1×105TFU/ml and then kept the lower level since their host have fed on the chemical treated grass for 10 days. 2 After eliminating the anaerobic fungi partly, the gas production in vitro decreased, ammonia concentration in ferment tube decreased while the concentration of bacterical protein increased, the concentration of the total violate fatty acid had no change, but acetate concentration decreased and propionate and butyrate concentration increased. 3 The dry matter loss in nylon bag decreased after eliminating the anaerobic fungi partly.
