Cultivator is one kind of high-yield, small agricultural machine which is widely used in agricultural production. Driven by the minitype single-cylinder diesel engine, the vibration on the handle of cultivator is very serious, which does great harm to the health of the operator. In this point, some measures to reduce the vibration should be taken. In this dissertation, a virtual prototype model of the cultivator was built modeling with the GN31 cultivator. Testing analysis to the physical prototype and virtual model was done according to physical experiments and simulating experiments. Vibration mechanism of the cultivator was studied, and some effective measures were given. Studies indicate that:(1) It is the approach of the first natural frequency of the handle (43.9Hz) and the working frequency under the rated rotate speed of the engine, due to the unreasonable mechanism design, that causes the serious vibration on the handle of the GN31 cultivator.(2) Adding a 1.5~3.0Kg mass to the rail of the handle ,or install a shockabsorber on each side of the handle 150mm away to the splint, can reduce thevibration on the handle effectively, and makes it meet the 4-8 hours' safework requirement in ISO5349/1978.
