Bingtang orange originated in Hongjiang country of Hunan province. It was a major orange cultivars in Hunan province. In order to improve the quality of Bingtang orange, Some bud mutations of Bingtang navel orange had been selected out from bud mutation of Bingtang orange in recent years.This research was studing on major agronomic characters investigation and genetic analyses of Bingtang navel orange and Bingtang orange. The main results were summaried as follows.1. Compared with Bingtang orange, Bingtang navel orange was heavier in individual fruit weight, bigger and more uniform in fruit size, thinner and more smooth in the peel, the fruit was easy to digest and the juice in fruit was increased. Moreover ,the content of total sugar was relatively lower, but the content of total acid was relatively higher. So the taste and the fruit's quality was more excellent.2. Forty pairs of AFLP primers had been adopted in the AFLP analysis.5907 clean and stable bands had been detected by twelve pairs of AFLP primer which had been selected out from 40 pairs of primer. 23 special bands had been amplified by 6 pairs of AFLP primer. It obviously existed different bands beween Bingtang naval orange and Bingtang orange by using AFLP primer EcoR 1 ACG+Mse 1 CAC. The number of amplified bands was 56, the different bands were 6, and the polymorphic rate was 10.2%. Compared with Bingtang orange , it is ascertained that Bingtang navel orange have been changed the genetic substance. It is successful report about the first applicationof AFLP in the research of Citrus bud mutation .3. The majority of polysaccharides can be deprived by using the improved methods of SDS and CTAB. Furthermore, leaves of different growth phases could be used in this methods. Thus the restriction of materials from which the DNA were extracted and time was lessened.4. During the growth and development, the total sugar in fruit juice of Bingtang orange and Bingtang navel orange was gradually increased. From July 25 to November 5, the content of total sugar was gradually increased. From September 5 to October 15, the content of total sugar is slowly increased, and from October 15 to November 25 the content of total sugar was increased dramatically. The content of total acid in fruit is accumulated rapidly from July 25 to September 5. From September 5, the content of total acid was gradually decreasing, especially from October 15 to November 25, the content of total acid in fruit was decreased dramatically, almost reach to the level of that in mature fruit.
