An experiment was conducted using a total of 400 l-day-old Avain broiler chickens to investigate the effects of adding chromium sources (Cr nicolinate and Cr picolinate) to corn-soybean meal diets on growth performance, serum biochemical traits of broiler chickens. Chickens were randomly allocated to 10 treatments with 4 replicates(half of male and female), and the experiment lasted for four weeks. Five treatments with dietary supplements of 0 (control), 0.1,0.2,0.3, and 0.4 mg/kg of chromium picolinate (count with cr) wer used, other five treatments with dietary supplements of 0.1,0.2,0.3, 0.4 and 0.5 mg/kg of chromium nicolinate (count with cr) were used. The result demonstrated that: 1. dietary supplements of 0.4 mg/kg Cr nicolinate or Cr picolinate significant enhance the broilers growth performance(P<0.01). The supplement of 0.4 mg/kg Cr picolinate significantly decreased the broilers day-average consumption of diet. 2. dietary supplements of 0.3 mg/kg Cr nicolinate or Cr picolinate in broiler diets significantlydecreased the broilers liver fat ratio and abdominal fat ratio (P<0.05). 3. dietarysupplements of 0.3 mg/kg Cr nicolinate or Cr picolinate in broiler diets significantly decreased the broilers serum triacylglycerol (TG) contents (P0.05). dietary supplements of 0.4 mg/kg Cr nicolinate or Cr picolinate in broiler diets significantly decreased the broilers serum CHOL contents and also reduced serum HDL contents (P<0.05). 4. The effect of supplements Cr nicolinate in broiler diets overmatch the Cr picolinate. 5. The propriety dosage in broiler diets is 0.3-0.4 mg/kg.
