The field experiments were conducted to study the effect of the new type of nitrification inhibitor DMPP and BASF compound fertilizer on yield of different crops. The results were as follows:DMPP could inhibit the transformation of fertilizer N in soil effectively and kept high NH4+-N concentration in soil while reduced exsssive NO3-N accumulation in soil under the climate condition in Hainan. The grain yield,N uptake,N use efficiency of maize and rice was increased by applying DMPP with N fertilizer. The results of maize experiments showed that the grain yield,N uptake N use efficiency were increased 1.9-18.8%,2.2-28.4%,2.7-17.5% at N application rate of 150 kg-ha-1 respetively.but increased 2.4-2.5%,5.8%,1.3 % at N application rate of 225 kg-ha-1.The results of rice experiments showed that the grain yield,N uptake N use efficiency of rice was increased 0.5-25.8%,6.8-14.5%,3.9-9.1 5% at N application rate of 150 kg-ha-1.The effect of DMPP on maize in south area of China with high temperature and high rainfall was better than that in north area of China. The effect of DMPP with N fertilizer on maize and rice declined with N application rate.Compared with the treatment that all nitrogen fertilizer was applied as basal, the treatments with splitting application had better effect on grain yield,N uptake,N use efficiency of maize and rice, especially at lower N application rate. There was no significant difference between ASN and Urea on maize and rice. However, the effect of ASN on yield of capsicum and watermelon was better than that of UreaThe yield , fruit number and fruit weight of the treatments applied with ASN were higher than that of the treatments applied with Urea.
