Some male-floral characters and dispersal of pollen of ewz-mutants in rice were studied. Maintainers possessing euil, eui2 gene respectively, XQZeBl, XQZeB2, D297eBl, D297eB2, Jin23eBl, Jin23eB2 and the original maintainers were chosen in the flowering phase I (about 20 June). Maintainers LTPeBl, LTPeB2, II-32eBl, II-32eB2 and the original maintainers added to the flowering phase II (about 20 July) were chosen in the flowering phase I, II. Restorers possessing euil gene, Shuhui527eRl, 127eRl and original restorers were chosen in the flowering phase III (about 20 September); Sequential permutation design with three repeats was carried out in filed experiment. The megagamete fertility, the quantity of the anther, pollen sac wall structure and the dehiscent state, the quantity of the pollen grain were observed in the flowering phase I; male-floral characters, pollen vigor, pollen fertility, natural seed set, dispersal of pollen, releasing anthers were observed in the flowering phase II; male floral characters of restorers were observed in the flowering phase III.Jin23B, Jin23eB2, Jin23B/Jin23eB2, Jin23eB2/Jin23B of FI and F2 generation, Jin23B/Jin23eB2//Jin23eB2 and Jin23eB2/Jin23B//Jin23B of backcross generation were chosen. Sequential permutation design with no repeat was carried out in filed experiment. A preliminary genetic analysis pollen fertility of FI-hybrids was studied. The main results were as following:1. No difference was found on megagamete fertility, the quantity of the anther, releasing anthers between original maintainers and mutant maintainers possessing euil, eui2 gene respectively.2. No difference was also found on all of floral characters of maintainers and restorers possessing euil, euil gene respectively except the spikelet length, the ratio of spikelet of length-width and some of the strains' plump anther. Because of the different genetic backgrounds, floral characters showed difference.3. Significant difference for pollen black stained, natural seed set, pollen vigor both different e珃-maintainers and their original maintainers. All of the respective traits of eui gene had the same effect: Eui>eui2>euil, but parts of the strains natural seed set showed Eui=euil.4. Compared to those of ew/-maintainers, a little increased in the quantity pollen grains. The effect of eui gene was: Eui>eui2>euil.5. Under the natural condition of dispersion pollen, the capacity of dispersal pollen for e?-maintainers was feeble. Some of anthers were indehiscent, others had slender slit. The effect of eui gene were: Eui>eui2>euil. Artificially supplementary treatment didn't show significant effect. The capacity of the original maintainers was stronger than euz'-maintainers; and showed difference significant6. The dehiscent states of mature anther had three types, including dehiscent completely, stomium, indehiscent completely. They held different proportion in the three types due to the different ewz'-genotypes. The capacity of dehiscent anther was determined to the size and the morpha of anther stomium cell, epidermal cell and fibrous stratum's plastic property of the pollen sac wall.7. A preliminary genetic analysis indicated that the pollen fertility of FI-hybrids was controlled by a set of complementary dominant genes.
