The fuels of Maoershan National Park were divided into seven types by means of traditional classifying methods and the system of GIS(Geographic Information System), and the image database of fuel type and the database of attribute were set up by using the operation stage of ArcView GIS3.2.Five fire danger ratings of fuel types were classified on the basis of the initial ignition moisture content and the initial spread moisture content, which were tested through field ignition experiment. The regression model of combustible moisture content on the ground and the correlative weather elements were build by virtue of multi-regression statistics. Based on the observed or predicted data in field, moisture content of fuel could be forecasted. The fire danger ratings could be confirmed according to classification standard.The independently operating 'and predictive system of fire danger rating in Maoershan National Park was set up through combining MapObjects with Visual Basic6.0 on the basis of COM (Component Object Model) technology produced by ESRI firm. All this was operated under the Windows environment.The interface of this system has some good characters, it keeps in line with traditional Windows interface, easy to operate and is convenient to fire manager to use.
