80 Hailanbai W26 hens were divided into 4 groups at random , 20 every group. They were killed at 9.am at day 63, 100, 281. 481. respectively. Blood sample was collected from every group hens and its FSH and E2 were evaluated using EIA. Ovaries and oviducts of 5 hens from every group were fixed in 10% formaldehyde and embedded in paraffin and then sectioned. TGF-β1 expression was evaluated by using SABC and the amount of different follicles was assessed by using Abercrobies. The study is to detect the dynamic changing manner of follicles development, FSH, E2 and TGF- β1 expression, which can be the theoretical basis of the reproductive regulation in eliminated hens. It was found that : 1) the average number of follicles at day 63, 100, 281, 481 was 85805 ± 6694, 74014±13083, 65909 ±8290, 46123 ± 3924 respectively, and during of the cycle of producing eggs, the average follicle losing rate was 46%. 2) FSH and E2 in serum at day 63 and 481 were lower than that at day 100 and 281, and the difference between those groups was significant (P<0.01). 3) The average number of secondary follicles in ovaries at day 63, 100, 281 and 481 are 5753± 875, 10457±2426, 6523±725, 5316±1012 respectively. That is to say, there were most secondary follicles at premature (at day 100), which suggested that there be a peak of follicle development during this period. The average number of ≥1mm follicles in eliminated hens (at day 481) was more than that in hens with most production (at day 281) and the difference was significant (P<0.01). Meanwhile, the number of dominant follicles F1-6 in hens at day 481 was more than that at day 281 (P<0.05). 4) There were some follicles with two oocytes in ovaries at day 63 and 100. 5) TGF- β1 was expressed mainly in epithelial cells, shallow cortex and deep medulla in ovaries . and in epithelial cells and ectoblast in oviducts. However, TGF- β1 expression in ovaries and oviducts at day 63 and 481 was stronger than that at day 100 and 281, and the difference of A value of TGF- β1 between the two former groups and the latter groups (P<0.05).
