In order to find out the fate of fertilizer nitrogen after it was applied in soils under Shanxi specific entironment terms, to offer theoretic basis for making nitrogen utilize tactics, reducing loss of nitrogen, improving nitrogen utilize ratio(NUR), and protecting the environment, soil cultivation, potted plant maizes, and soil cylinder simulated experimentation were conducted. Having studied systematically nitrogen transformation, fate of fertilizer nitrogen in different soils under the specific weather of Shanxi province. With a discuss on possibility of denitrification and leaching loss of nitrogen. The main results were as follows:1. In the situation that the temperature and the moisture are suitable(the moisture is 60% capillary water content), ammonium nitrogen(NH4+-N) and (NH2)2CO fertilizers in soil can translate into nitrate nitrogen(NO3--N ) within 4-7 days.2. Under this experimental condition, the NUR of the maize is not high, the value is from 10.49% to 37.61% on average. The NUR of the maize in the soil sylinders is high than in the pots slightly. The NURs between different nitrogen fertilizer are different remarkably. Up to 0.01 significant level of difference. Among them, the NUR of (NH2)2CO fertilizer is the most high, is 27.51% on average. It has no significant difference between NH4+-N and NO3--N fertilizer. The interactional effect between soil and fertilizer is very remarkable. When (NH2)2CO fertilizer or NH4+-N fertilizer was applied in moist soil, the NUR is high, the average values are 25.94% and 22.72% respectively.3. As for nitrogen remainder in soils, the difference between the soil sylinders and the pots is remarkable. The remainder nitrogen in the soil sylinders is more than in the pots. The nitrogen remainder states among different fertilizers in different soils has significant difference. The results of soil sylinder simulated experimentation indicated: in the chestnut soil, the amount of (NH2)2CO-N remaider is high, the remain rate is 42.81%. The amount of nitrogen remainder between NH4+-N fertilizer and NO3--N fertilizer has no significant difference. In the moist earth or cinnumon soil, NH4+-N and (NH2)2CO remainder are more than NO3--N fertilizer.4. Under this experimental condition, the loss of nitrogen is from 6.01% to 67.76% onaverage. In addition, the loss of all the three nitrogen fertilizers is the most in the moist earth and in the chestnut soil, the loss of NH4+-N fertilizer is especially the most, the value is from 39.85% to 67.76% on average.5. Under this experimental condition, the possibility of denitrification and that of leaching loss are both high, especially the possibility of leaching loss is high.
