This paper mainly discussed the reproductive biology, the morphology of early development, the artificial propagation and cage culture technology of Sebastes schlegeli Hilgendorfits, as follows:Conventional biology researching method was adopted to report the structure of the breeding colony of S. schlegeli in Yantai. It was made up of the individual whose length was 235-467mm, weight was 300-6770g, age was 3-14. When the female fish was 4 ages and male fish was 3 ages, they all reached the sexual maturity. The time of laying larva was during April and May. the peak period was in the early May.The microscope observing method was adopted to observe and describe the external form and internal structure of the young stage of S.schlegeli in different periods. At same time the artificial nursing experiment was combined to make a system summary on the feeding ecology of the young stage in each period. On the basis of the upper experiment, 305,800 fries of S.schlegeli which length was 26mm had been cultivated in the 200m3 raising feeding water, more than 1,500 fries /m3 have been produced. Also the feeding, growth and survival rate of S.schlegeli in the early stage was summarized systematically. In the period of feeding, the technology of the rotifer and bring shrimp larvae nauplii being strengthened with the HUFA and the technology of the formula feeds substituting the fresh bait in the juvenile fish stage and young fish stage had achieved good results.According to the nutrition science of sea fish and the achievements in feeding ecology research of S.schlegeli, two kinds of formula feeds, which were compounded of the local feed resources, were compared with fresh fish being used to feed in the cage culture. And the comparative result was analyzed from increasing weight, bait efficiency and the cost of feeding, as follows: the same result could be gained in feeding S.schlegeli with the two kinds of formula feeds and the fresh bait. The detailed discussion was made in the cage culture of S.schlegeli from the design of cage craft to the cage management. The systematic summary was made about the features of feeding, growth, the mortalityregulation, the disease, disease control and prevention and the anti-cold ability in the course of the winter. All of these provided the basis for popularizing cultivation of S.schlegele.
