Bentazon as a herbicide has been mainly applied in crop field , such as rice, peanut and so on . Most rice varieties are resistant to bentazon. A mutant - Norm 8m , susceptible to bentazon, was obtained by radiation. Bentazon Susceptible Lethality(BSL) in Norin 8m means special significance in hybrid seed production. Concentration test was taken with Norin 8m, (liuqianxinB/4008B)F5, (3726B/HaibaB)F5 and (3726B/Nan65B)F5. By crossing this mutant with (liuqianxinB/4008B)F5 , (3726B/HaibaB)F5 and (3726B/Nan65B)F3 , F1, BC1, F2 population and F2:3 family lines were developed for genetic analysis and molecular mapping for BSL. The results as follow:1 Concentration TestWhile the concentration ranging from 0.1% - 0.4%(v/v), (liuqianxinB/4008B)F5, (3726B/HaibaB)F5 and (3726B/Nan65B)F5 could maintain normal growth, but Norin 8m was Susceptible and killed 5-7 days after spraying Bentazon. Concentration of 0.2% (v/v) was suitable for identification in the fields.2 Genetic Analysis for BSL in Norin 8mGenetic analysis was conducted with F1, BC1, F2 population and F2:3 family lines derived from the crosses of Norin 8m and (liuqianxinB/4008B)F5, (3726B/HaibaB)F5 and (3726B/Nan65B)F5. The results indicated that BSL in Norin 8m was controlled by a recessive gene and delivered steadily in rice offspring.3 SSR Markers Linked to bsl gene in Norin 8mSimple sequence repeats (SSR) was employed to detect molecular markers linked to bsl gene in Norin 8m using FI segregation population derived from the crosse of Norin 8m and (HuqianxinB/4008B)F5. RM1350 and RM3856 which were all from rice chromosome 3 were proved to link to bsl gene on the same flank with genetic distance of 15.0 cM and 14.1 cM respectively.
