| Shuangdi Pei eS whose panicles exerted well, was thermo-sesitive genie male sterile ( TGMS ) rice selected from irradiated seeds of shuangdi S by 350 Gy 60Co gamma -ray. The present investigation was aimed at studying the charaters of culm internode elongation, the inheritance of eui gene, allelic relationship between eui gene and some other genes related to plant height, effects of temperature on the expression of eui gene and combining ability analysis of main charaters for Shuangdi Pei eS. The main results of present investigation are as follow:1. The plant height of Shuangdi Pei eS with well-exerted panicles is higher than that of Shuangdi S with poor-exerted panicles and male sterile, and shorter than that of XQZ eB-1 and XQZ eB-2 with male fertile, the result indicated that the gene of male sterile have negative effects on the eui gene.2. The eui gene of Shuangdi Pei eS was governed by a pair of recessive gene. Genetic allelic study found that eui gene of Shuangdi Pei eS was allelic to the eui] of XQZeB-1. The panicle exertion would be improved in the combinations of Shuangdi Pei eS, therefore Shuangdi Pei eS could be utilized in the application of rice heterosis for overcoming poor exertion of some hybrid.3. The fertility of Shuangdi Pei eS was recorded two genie inheritance. The frequency of TGMS rice for F2 population of combination Shuangdi Pei eS / restore line was one of sixty -fourth, and for F2 population of combination Shuangdi Pei eS / TGMS line with allelic male sterile gene was one of fourth.4. Combining ability analysis revealed that GCA of plant height, panicle exertion, length of first and second internode, for Shuangdi pei eS is higher than that of Peiai 64S and other TGMS line, while SCA of plant height for Shuangdi pei eS is lower than that of Peiai 64S, this indicated that eui gene would not cause great increment in plant height. For the panicle exertion higher SCA recorded in Shuangdi pei eS /Foo3, andsome other combinations developed from Shuangdi pei eS, this indicated significant effects of eui gene.5. Higher GCA of panicles per plant, total grains pei panicle, filled grains pei panicle and yield for Shuangdi pei eS coincided higher SCA of total grains pei panicle, filled grains pei panicle and 1000 grains weight for the combinations of Shuangdi pei eS. Viewing the relative values of GCA and SCA for Shuangdi pei eS, Shuangdi pei eS inherit the Peiai 64S's character of high combining ability.6. The effect of eui gene on the fertility of Shuangdi Pei eS applied at different temperature and diffeent development stage of young panilcle was studied, The results was showed that the expression of eui gene were affected by the temperature as TGMS rice did. The expression of eui gene was active below 26℃ and inactive at high temperature 30℃.7. No effect of eui gene on critical temperature of the fertility was recorded, and the expression of eui gene was affected by the gene of the fertility. |
