With the rapid development of urbanization, the constructive quality of urban greenery network system has increasingly growing influence to urban residential environment, the quality of residential quarter green area as one of its ingredient even directly affects the quality of life. Therefore, it is necessary to intensify the construction and research the theory of residential quarter green area. The paper used Nanjing as a example, the topic was discussed as follows:1. The importance and the exist questions of the construction of residential quarter green area were discussed.2. The paper selected 13 typical residential areas displayed on the fair of estate of Nanjing from 2001 to 2002 and built after 1996 to evaluate the greening indexes, the number of plants species, plants structure, got a better patter of residential quarter green area and the corresponding criterions of greening indexes, plants species and plants structure of different type residential area, selected 6 residential areas with better public green space and evaluated the plants diversity. The result was Qingjiang garden is the highest and a better residential quarter green area patter,3. Constructed the evaluation index system of residential quarter green area. Through distributing a lot of questionnaire, the paper got the importance of every index and its satisfactory.4. Generalized upper the upper assay, the principles of improving the quality of residential quarter green and the corresponding countermeasures were discussed.Finally, the paper summed up the former conclusions, discussed the greening indexes and suggested that we should intensify and accomplish the researches about residential quarter green areas.
