Zhang Shu-Ying (major: Soil Science)Supervise by Prof. Wen Qikai, Prof.Xu Xin-Wen and Prof.Chen BingTarim Desert Highway is the longest standard highway crossing the sand desert in the world, which is 562km long from south to north. However, sand blown by wind do great harm to the security of Tarim Desert Highway. In order to build highway and safely run, we set up mechanical sand prevention system. But this measure can't ensure normal running to highway. So it is necessary to establish protection forest ecological engineering on Tarim Desert Highway which major is biology sand prevention method, this engineering have important realistic and historical signification.Based on 6 site type areas and class systems of 21site type on engineering, aeolian sandy soil physico-chemical Properties have been studied and analyzed from various aspects. Original evaluation has been done on the aeolian sandy soil fertility system along the Highway. According to the requirement of suitability for trees'plantation, suitsble plant species are selected for the biological protective system and protection forest ecological engineering on Tarim Desert Highway in order to accumulate more basic information required.(1)Majority of aeolian sandy soil are the diminutive sand and the very diminutive sand. The salt content also has vast special variability, with pH between 8-9. Available content of Fe Mn Cu Zn show obvious changes affected by plants absorbability and microbe activity.(2)Compared to different soil species of some areas such as Mingqing in Gansu province , soil particle composition has less sand and the diminutive sand, with having much more salt content. Aeolian sandy soil has stronger alkalescence and less nutrient content.(3)Aeolian sandy soil's qualities are as followed: pH in 6 class; It shows high degree of salinization, nutrient content in low level, with scarcity of microelement, too. Fertility level is lower in every site type which is 4 class.(4)Biology protective system along Tarim Desert Highway should select better plants which are interests in tolerance with salt, high temprature, strong wind and aridity such as Haloxylon ammodendron, Calligonummongolicum, Tamarix autromongolica etc.
