A Study On Characteristics Of Tree Water-consumption In Beijing City

With development of urbanized construction and improvement of life,the shortage of water resource in globe had become more serious.Beijing ,the capital of our country ,is the center of the politics,economy and culture of our country,it also face this harassment .The shortage of water resource had become a great inhabitors to develop economy and society. This paper aims to the shortage of the water use in Beijing city, how to choose the proper plants to arrange, and how to control the water use in green space, in order to maintain and manage the present green space scientifically. These studies could provide the basic data and research achievement on analysis the difference of plant transpiration and water consumption between different tree species. It contribute to instructional significance to regulate and control the moisture relations between every factor, and solve contradiction between moisture providence and demanding. At the same time, It will be provided the theoretical evidence for plants choosing and arranging ,and properly using water resources in arboriculture and maintenance.In order to solve these issues existing at present research and application in urban forest/gardens, this paper chose the 25 tree species in Beijing area,such as Magnolia denudata, Acer truncatum, Crataegus pinnatifida, Prunuspersica 'Duplex', Syringa vulgaris, etc.. Using the Li-cor6400 ,observe the ecophysiological characteristics of plant transpiration and water consumption. This article was focus on the following probem:1. Research theory and methods in the studies of water consumption problem2. Water consumption characteristics of the 25 urban trees in Beijing3. Relationship between water consumption and ecological factersBased on the research result, the 25 urban trees can be classified as three types:Firstly ,those trees had the characterics of high water consumption and low water use efficiency,such as Prunus persica 'Duplex', Prunus davidiana, Malusx micromalus, etc.Secondly ,those trees had the characterics of low water consumption and highwater use efficiency,such as Euonymus japonicus, Cercis chinensisi, Kerria japonica.etc.Thirdly ,those trees had the characteristics of low water consumption and low water use efficiency,such as Deutzia parviflore, Platanus occidentalis,etc.The results show that those trees had characteristics of low water consumption and high water use efficiency,such as Euonymusjaponicus, Cercis chinensisi,Kerria japonica,will be fitted better to urban greenspace.
