Pulmonary Hypertension Syndrome of broiler(PHS) that has a group of character symptom such as ascites and heart failure, is also one of major diseases threatening broiler industry. To clarificate the action of ET-1 on PHS broiler, clinical PHS cases were devided into groups with age. Mean pulmonary artery pressure(PAPm) was measured with right cardiac catheter, results were compared with the control group. An acute experiment was used to confirm the effect of endothelin-l(ET-l) on experiment broiler and its relevance of effection and dose on broiler . ET-1 had been administered into broilers for 2 weeks from 15 days to 30 days of age,the effect of ET-1 on NOS concentration was observed. Results: (21) PAPm in PHS broiler were highest significant than in normal broilers(p<0.01) on the age of 24d,36d,and significant higher than on the age of 30d, but there was no difference on the age of 42 days. (2)The PAPm of broilers administered with 25ng/kg by iv had arrived at the level of those in natural cases.(3)The incidence rates of broilers treated with 25ng/kg ET-1 for 2 weeks were 6.7% and 13.3% respectively at the age of 30d and 44d. PCV and AHI in this test were significiant higher than in control. Furthermore,ET-l induce the swell of vessel endothelium, cause pulmonary gas change become difficult and apparatus pathological change. All of these demonstrated that PAPm was high relative with ascites quantity; incidence rates was obvious increased after treated with ET-1. these shows ET-1 should be a necessary factor to induce PHS .
