The objective of the research was to study the effect of nutrition level on daily weight gain and slaughtering performance of Kerqin cattle under stall-feeding condition.Sixty-two male Kerqin cattle, about 1.5 —2 years old and about 170 kg in weight were selected as experimental animals. The animals were randomly divided into three groups, i.e., high nutrition group (22 heads), middle nutrition group (20 heads) and low nutrition group (20 heads). The distiller's grains were fed ad libitum while mixed concentrates were controlled. The total experimental period was 120 days. The first part of feeding period was 30 days, the second period of feeding period was 60 days and the third period was 30 days. The weight of the animals was weighed at the beginning of the experiment and each end of month of feeding and the daily weight gain was calculated for feeding period. At the end of the experiment, the animals were slaughtered and carcass weight, dressing percentage and meat quality were measured and evaluated, respectively. The results indicated that the daily weight gain of the three groups of high nutrition, middle nutrition and low nutrition was 1.50 kg/day, 1.59 kg/day and 1.52 kg/day, respectively. There was not significant difference between different nutrition treatments (P>0.05). However, the middle nutrition level was the best in economic benefits. The results suggest that the middle nutrition level was appropriated in this experiment. In this article, it is evaluated that the effects of different nutrition levels to slaughtering traits and quality of beef. The results of evaluation indicated that the dressing percentage, carcass weight, pure meat weight and pure meat percentage between different levels were not different. The results imply that the beef quality of the high level is the best and middle level is better than the low level. However, the economic benefit of high and middle level is significantly better than the low level. In a word, in the east of Inner Mongolia, to develop the stall-feeding fattening using Kerqin callte, the middle nutrition level should be used.
