Water level gradient is an important environmental gradient in wetland, the research of reaction of wetland plant to water level gradient is an important content of wetland ecology.Lythrum salicaria is a kind of perennial herbage of Lythraceae. It originally produces in Eurasia, and possesses higher view and admire value. The color of flower is floweriness, the plant is comeliness and tidiness, the florescence is lasting a long time. It can be planted in riverside or pond and can serve as summer different kinds of flower view and flower mirror in gardens station, as well as can be planted in outdoors or pots and can be use to cut flower. It is a good material in wetland. Main concentration of the research of the abroad is how to carry on the living creature protection, lower the bane that it invades to bring. But local research is late. Our experiment bases on the foundations that the people have to do and set out from a environment of the water level gradient factor, study the effect of it on growth, reproduction and horticultural characters of Lythrum salicaria. The aim is try to understand the feat water level for Lythrum salicaria, and lay the foundation for the good clones' selection.Five kinds of water level treatments, 0 cm, 3~5 cm, 10 cm, 20 cm and 40 cm, were designed, and clones and seed seedling of four strain of Lythrum salicaria were adopted in this paper. The material was planted in different water level, and the growth and horticultural characters were recorded or test during the growth course. Main result is as follows:1. The research of plasticity. The same clone under the different water gradient are significantly difference for the plant height, steam diameters, total leaves area, number of branching, total biomass, florescence, length of inflorescence, number of inflorescence and patel width. This explains that it growth and reproduction to the water level gradient of reflection have the certain plasticity. The different clones for certain character are different, parts of them are significant and others are not significant. Its plasticity size is not the same, for the clones get part of heredity difference.2. The biomass allocation patterns.
