The volatile compounds in 'Yindi' melons were isolated and identified by headspace, hot disengagement and solid-phase microextraction connecting with GS/MS. 72 compounds were separated from the cave of melon by the headspace and 55 compounds of them were identified. 34 compounds were separated from the plup and peel by the hot disengagement. Among them 30 compounds were identified. 140 compounds were separated from cave of melon by he solid-phase microextraction, 90 compounds were identified. Among identified 148 compounds there were 56 kinds of ester, 23 kinds of ketone, 18 kinds of aldehyde, 16 kinds of alcohol, 14 kinds of acid, 5 kinds of alkene, 2 kinds of aether and 14 kinds of furan, benzene, alkyl and others. The characteristic volatile compounds of melon included: nonanoic acid; 2-nonanol; acetic acid, ethyl ester; acetic acid, butyl ester; 3-octyl acetate; methyl acetate; triacetin; acetic acid, propyl ester; acetic acid, 2-methylpropyl ester; l-butanol,3-methyl,acetate; 2-methyl-butyl acetate; 2-vinylethyl acetate; acetic acid, pentyl ester; 2-buten-l-ol, 3-methyl-, acetate; ethanol, 2-methoxy-, acetate; vinyl acetate; acetic acid, hexyl ester; 2-pentanol, acetate; acetol acetate; 3-hepten-l-ol,acetate; acetic acid, 1-methylethyl ester; 3-octanyl acetate; acetic acid, 2-ethylhexyl ester; acetic acid, phenylmethyl ester; 1,1-Ethanediol,diacetate; 3-Hexen-1-OL, acetate ,(Z)-; acetic acid, 2-phenylethyl ester; cyclohexaneethanol, acetate; 2-hexen-1-OL, acetate; 2-penten-1-ol, acetate,(Z)-; 1,2-ethanediol, monoacetate; 1,3-propanediol, diacetate; 1 -propen-2-OL, acetate. Besides, abundant junior esters were identified. 26 of identified compounds that in this study have been reported. 16 compounds were jointly identified by headspace and solid-phase microextraction method. 9 compounds were jointly identified by hot disengagement and headspace method. 9 compounds were jointly identified by hot disengagement and solid-phase microextraction method. The change of relative concentration on volatile compounds were studied in fruit treated with BTH or inoculated with Trichothecium roseum during ambient temperature( 25??) storage. The results showed that the relative concentration of most volatile compounds increased in cave of melon during storage. BTH treatment decreased the release of volatile compounds in cave of melon. Trichothecium roseum stimulated the release of volatile compounds in cave of melon. The study of isolated and identify on volatile compounds in melon indicated that different pretreatment had different result of analysis; Different polarity of capillary column had different effect of analysis; Different sampling part had different result of examination. The headspace, the hot disengagement and the solid-phase microextraction are suitable methods for analysis of volatile component in melon. Among them the solid-phase microextraction is the best.
