Progress in the development of recombinant deoxyribonucleic acid (r-DNA) techniques has contributed to many genetically modified (GM) crops in the markets of the world. But the safety of genetically modified organisms still has not a scientific conclusion. Labeling policies regarding GM foods differ from country to country. Thus, new labeling systems have been introduced for GM foods in the European Union, Korea, Japan and other countries. Labeling of GM foods is not compulsory in the United States and Canada. For the monitoring of labeling systems, it is necessary to set an effective threshold, establish well-validated analytical methods, and provide available reference materials. Efforts have been made recently to development polymerase chain reaction methods for the quatitative detection of glyphosate-torlerant soybeans. It is unlikely that the quality of the reference materials prepared from agriculture products could be maintained, because many factors, such as variety, growing area and the age of seeds, and the different genotypes of embryos and albumen, could affect the quality of DNAs extracted from the seeds.New quantitation methods based on a real-time polymersase chain reaction technique were developed for GM soy, Roundup ready. Plasmid was constructed as reference molecule for the detection of the genetically modified soy. The molecule contains the specific sequence of Lectin and universal sequences used in GM soy, such as plant35s-genome junction, 35s promoter, CTP, EPSPS, Nos and Nos-plant genome junction. The ration of r-DNA and endogenous sequence in each genuine seed are defined as Cf value. Test samples contained 0, 0.5, 1, and 2% of the transgene .
