There was one alpaca died of disease. At first we anatomized and found most of tissues such as liver, kidney, spleen abnormal. Then virus whose size is 80nm were found in tissue. Based on those study and the story of diseases in south camelids, we suspected that those alpacas maybe infected by coronavirus. After many failures, we obtained a fragment of a gene by RT-PCR.The fragment were cloned into the pMD-18T vector and so we obtained the plasmid DNA. After sequencing, the size of the valid sequence is 723bp (the Genbank accession No. AY939836). It involved a complete ORF and coded 229AA. The result of homolog analysis showed that high homolog was aligned among membrane protein of infectious bronchitis virus with 92-94% on the lever of nucleotide and 87-92% on the lever of amino acid. According to the name rules of International Genomics Committee, the gene was named Avian Infectious Bronchitis Virus like in alpaca Lama pacos. The analyzed results of amino acid showed that the protein had three transmembrane region whose result was the same as affinity analysis. It showed several functional sites: 2 Protein kinase C phosphorylation site, N-glycosylation site, Leucine zipper pattern, 6 N-myristoylation site. It had no signal. It is special that 16-19AA was longer at 5' of this membrane protein than other strain in Genbank. Phylogenetic analysis showed that it is consistently belong to the same family with foreign conn strain with 98% and 92% on nucleotide and amino acid respectively. There was a mutation at 204AA form T to I. The alignments showed it had two conserved regions at 131-158AA and 160-204AA.Basing on those analysis, we know about the virus. And the results indicated that:1. above on the basal analysis, coronavirus infectious in alpacas were suspected.2. the membrane protein gene of Infectious Bronchitis Virus like was obtained from alpacas for the first time. And it was cloned into the pMD-18T vector. The gene belonged to the family of Infectious Bronchitis Virus.3. the result of homolog analysis showed that high homolog was 92-94% on the lever of nucleotide and 87-92% on the lever of amino acid It is consistently belong to the same family with foreign conn strain with 98% and 92% on nucleotide and amino acid respectively. So they was relative to the function.4. above on the functional sites, it maybe the reason of death of alpacas.
