| A parasites identification expert system for livestock and poultry in China was developed by using Microsoft Access 2003 and Borland Delphi 7.0. The knowledge base, the data base, the inference engine, the interface and the parasites data base were built as modules separately. This expert system contained 4443 rules of identification and 3495 records about the information of parasites of livestock and poultry in China. It was capable of identifying 8 phyla, 12 classes, 32 orders, 126 families and 389 genuses which parasites of livestock and poultry in China belong to. Based on the information from the books titled "A List of Parasites for Livestock and Poultry in China" and "Classific Atlas of Parasites for Livestock and Poultry in China", the system contained a database on parasites of livestock and poultry in China, and provides convenient query, which will be useful reference to the works of parasitical disease preventing and curing and research on livestock and poultry in China. Developing this expert system was the first step to the application of the expert system in parasites identification. The ways of knowledge obtaining and knowledge representing taken, and the knowledge classify, the inference rules , the inference mechanism and the interface designed by the author would be reference to further study with the application of the expert system in parasites identification. Expert system could also be a new tool for identification in China. It would help users with basic knowledge of parasite to do identification professionally, and will be an assistant to the specialists. |
